We are looking for a talented Quality Control Lab Specialist - 1st Shift to join our team specializing in Quality for our Components Business Segment team in Maxton , NC.
In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
Perform dimensional inspection/verification of incoming Driveline, Axle and Transfer Case components/assemblies.
Verify dimensional and documentation conformance of supplier PPAP submissions for Driveline, Axle and Transfer Case components/assemblies.
Perform dimensional/functional performance analysis per QLWO (Quality Lab Work Orders).
Initiate Supplier DMNs (Discrepant Material Notices) and assist in internal containment activities as required/requested in the event nonconforming purchased components/assemblies.
Assist as needed to ensure the achievement of Plant Wide Quality short and long term goals and initiatives Compares the physical characteristics of components, materials, equipment and products to technical specifications to identify defects.
Conducts simple tests (for example on electrical function, reliability, packaging quality).
Provides product and component testing using a range of measurement equipment.
Participates in measurement uncertainty studies for measurements associated with measurement or calibration results.
To be successful in this role you will need the following:
Measurement Science - Analyzes measurement processes throughout the relevant traceability chain to identify and quantify sources of measurement uncertainty relevant to the appropriate applied measurement science, Metrology e.
g.
Chemical, Dimensional, Electrical, Mechanical, Optical and Radiation and Physical.
Laboratory Management - Leads technical resources while managing the business aspects of a laboratory using measure to control both the technical and business aspects of the organization and assuring the requirements of the appropriate certifications and/or accreditations are met.
Quality Process Management - Applies and manages methods (e.
g.
SPC, Capability studies, Layered Process Audit, inspection, test) to ensure quality of Cummins products, processes, and services.
Communicates effectively - Developing and delivering multi-mode communications that convey a clear understanding of the unique needs of different audiences.
Education, Licenses, Certifications High school diploma or certificate of completion of secondary education or equivalent experience to the extent such experience meets applicable regulations.
This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.
Experience Knowledge of how to read blueprints, engineering tolerance convention, GD&T, etc.
High School Diploma or GED Preferred.
Written and Verbal Communication Skills.
Must be able to perform computer functions as required for the position.
Basic product knowledge experience.
The employee is required to stand, sit, walk, reach, use fingers, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls.
The Quality Control Lab Specialist must frequently lift or move up to 40 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
